Damascus is awesome – Review by Colossus, posted on 3/24/11
At first, I was worried that the foam cells under the polyethelene armor would be low quality, such as they are in the new 'Imperial-4000' chest piece DCP-4000 from Damascus. The construction is solid and the foam cells are very hard and rigid. I'm an athletic build and lift weights a lot, so if that describes you as well then note that the waist area is not entirely designed to fit the athletic male 'V' torso shape, but it does still fit very well nonetheless. I am 6'1 and 195 lbs and a LARGE fits me pretty well with just a tad more gut room that I'd like. But, I have a vest I that I plan to where underneath the armor. Unlike steel or Kevlar plates, which will compromise and have no give, this polyethelene plating has enough give to allow an incoming force to be greatly dispersed. Note also that the foam cell layer was designed to cover your pants belt in order to prevent your belt from being damaged, etc. So, plan on mounting gear through a drop-leg platform or something not directly mounted to a belt. I wish that there was more neck protection on the suit, but besides that I have no issues with it. And believe me, getting the whole suit package is worth the price CHIEF supply has a great deal, especially with the free folding knife.
