"Heroes Trust Streamlight®"

When it comes to lighting, no one sets the bar higher than Streamlight®. With over 110 patents, Streamlight never stops developing and testing better lighting technologies, and all for one reason: to ensure that public safety professionals on the ground carry the toughest, most reliable lights on the market.

In the 1970s, Streamlight developed the first million candlepower hand-held light. Ever since then, Streamlight has pushed for better performance out of every part of a flashlight, be it longer battery run times, tougher construction, brighter beams or smaller, more compact lights.

Using the Same Lights You Use

Streamlight's innovation and success is the result of being such a "hands-on" company. Streamlight personnel, from designers up to executive management, use Streamlight products day in and day out. Streamlight president Brad Penney takes his Streamlight flashlight on hunting trips, and many of the company's law enforcement sales managers and engineers are avid gun collectors, hunters and competitive shooters, all using Streamlight products on a personal basis for a variety of applications.

This hands-on involvement has facilitated Streamlight's legendary reputation for the toughness of their flashlights. Public Safety professionals use Streamlight products under demanding circumstances that could destroy most products, but stories come in every day from officers, soldiers and firefighters about lights that took a beating – or a bullet – and kept on shining.

Here are some of those stories, in the customers' own words.

Here's a note from Police Officer Carter Staaf, whose Streamlight TLR-1® weapon light took a direct hit during a training scenario:

"I've run close to 4,000 rounds through my duty gun with the light attached and never had one issue with it. This week I finally broke something on the light at our yearly SWAT conference. Curing the second day of training we were in the middle of a force hostage rescue scenario when I took a simunition round directly through the bezel into the light. Amazingly, the light kept working. In fact, I had to use it the rest of the conference with the broken bezel. Then next night we had live fire range sessions. I left the light attached to keep things as normal as possible. I shot several hundred rounds that day in damp conditions and the light still functioned when I got home. Thanks for making a tough little light."

A light getting shot is one thing – but what about getting buried under debris in a burning building? Lights for the Fire Service are just as tough, as Lt. Christopher, AFD, explains what happened to his Streamlight LiteBox® at a structure fire:

"At 2:43 a.m. on February 16, 2008, an alarm for a structure fire came in. When we arrived on scene, the second and third floors of the structure were fully involved. The Engine 9 crew advanced handlines to the second and third floor. A handlight was set at the top of the stairway leading to the second floor. Some time later the structure was classified as unsafe and all interior crews were removed and a defensive effort was put in place. The next day after the investigators were through the structure we returned to retrieve some of our equipment. This light was found under debris right where it was left and still working."

Flashlights don't come tougher than that, and stories such as these are some of the best reasons why you can also rely on Streamlight products every day. That's why CHIEF is proud to carry Streamlight flashlights for Firefighters, Law Enforcement and the Military.
