When police officers hit the street, they're often packing heat in more ways thaN one. Yes, they carry weapons; they also carry body armor, life-saving equipment that can produce its own sauna-like atmosphere. In other words, officers sweat – and, depending on the temperature, officers sweat profusely. Enter CoolCop™, the quickest, easiest way to keep cool in scorching heat.

Cool & Dry in 10 Minutes

CoolCop was developed by a California police sergeant who just got tired of being uncomfortable in a sweat-soaked T-shirt. This simple device attaches to the vehicle's air conditioning and directs that cool air directly under a bulletproof vest for instant relief. CoolCop can cool and dry a shirt in about 10 minutes.

"When I was on patrol and out in high temperature, high-humidity weather, nothing helped. Once my t-shirt was soaked. It stayed soaked and I was distracted. Part of my mind was focused on how uncomfortable I was; I just wasn't completely focused on my job and my surroundings. Not a good thing when you're out on the street," says Sgt. Ron Baldal, a 22-year veteran of the San Jose Police Department. "None of the products for moisture wicking and cooling worked – at least not for me."

Baldal looked at the problem from a street-smart perspective. "I knew firsthand how fast things can heat up. Don a wool uniform, a bulletproof vest and strap on 25 pounds of equipment, and you can be soaked with sweat in minutes. It can feel like you're wrapped in plastic and you're working in 100 degree heat and 90 percent humidity." Baldal also knew that getting back into an air-conditioned car didn't provide relief, even with the air conditioning on full blast.

The CoolCop Difference

But here's the CoolCop difference. With CoolCop, the car's air conditioning turns into body air conditioning. Baldal's invention resembles a vacuum cleaner attachment. It hooks to the vehicle's A/C and directs cold air just where it's needed – between the vest and undershirt. CoolCop keeps officers cool, dry and comfortable. Officers can ignore the heat on the street all day long, and use time back in the cruiser to cool back down during hot days.

Once Baldal perfected his invention, he shared it with his teammates. They talked about it, and soon more and more cops wanted this easy-to-use comfort machine. That's when Baldal named his invention and started marketing it. "Everyone loved it. It's just a great way for officers to cool down between calls, like working a crash on a busy highway, or while they're writing reports," Baldal says. "Anytime they're in their vehicle, they can be cooling down with CoolCop."

It only takes a second to snap the CoolCop attachment into the dashboard air conditioning vent and to slip the soft vinyl vest attachment between the vest and undershirt. Then adjust the temperature on the A/C and relax.

CoolCop comes with 6" of crush-proof flex hose, so it can cool both front and back. And, un-installing is as easy as installation. Just squeeze the spring clip and remove from the A/C vent. CoolCop installs in the most common police vehicles, including the Ford Crown Victoria, Chevy Impala and Dodge Charger. It also works in most SUV's.
