2005, CHIEF & You - From Jeff Tousa, CHIEF President

Release Date Jan. 18, 2005

Summary: Thank you for a great 2004. As we head into 2005, we want you to know that CHIEF is always examining how we serve you - and we already have some ideas on what to add and improve for this year, says CHIEF President Jeff Tousa.

Jeff Tousa, CHIEF President You made 2004 our best year ever at CHIEF, and we hope that improved sales and service made your experience with CHIEF better than ever. We are always rethinking how we serve you – and we've already got a lot of ideas for the new year.

January 2005 – On behalf of all of us at CHIEF, I would like to thank you for being a valued customer and helping us achieve a successful 2004.

Over the past year, more individuals and public safety departments made CHIEF their supplier of choice than ever before! We would like to believe it's due to our commitment to giving you a positive buying experience, featuring our comprehensive product selection and attention to service before, during and after the sale.

Always Room to Do Better

How will we take this commitment to the next level? By always rethinking how we serve you.

Part of improving is increasing our product lines. During 2005, all public safety industries will find more of their essential equipment, from apparel to vehicle gear, available from CHIEF. We are also looking at new and better ways to provide you with timely customer service, updating our print catalog, and improving our CHIEFsupply.com website so it is a better tool for you.

One unique, new direction for CHIEF's customer service came in March 2004, when we introduced CHIEF Grants. This free service aims to assist your department in obtaining grant monies and understanding the grants process. In 2004, CHIEF Grants assisted numerous departments with their grant applications, while also building our CHIEF Grants website into a comprehensive, relevant one-stop resource for public safety departments navigating the grant research and application process.

New CHIEF Grants Training Seminars

For 2004's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program alone, we achieved a 72% success rate to-date. Through more services and resources, we think we can help even more departments join our CHIEF Grants Winners in 2005.

Starting this March, a new way CHIEF Grants will assist departments is through grant training seminars. From attendance cost to location, we have custom-built these seminars according to feedback from our grant-seeking customers. Currently we are developing programs for law enforcement, EMS, fire/rescue and other public safety personnel.

Our inaugural seminar, for fire and EMS interested in the 2005 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP), will be held in Philadelphia, PA, the first weekend in March. If your department is wondering how to get a piece of the $1.2 billion in federal funds for 2005 but are unsure where to start, this seminar is your ticket. I will be in Philadelphia, along with our CHIEF grant consultant Kurt Bradley, and we both look forward to meeting you.
