July Recap - Public Safety Grants

The eagle has landed, folks! On the Fourth of July, DHS announced the first award round for the FY 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP). As of the first 4 award rounds, 456 fire departments nationwide have been awarded over $42.4 million in grant funding for vehicles, PPE and more. Congratulations, winners!

For all other AFGP applicants, just stay tuned. Awards will be announced on Friday mornings over the next few months. Follow CHIEF Grants for updates, and see the official AFGP website, firegrantsupport.com, for more AFGP news and award information.

First Round FY2008 AFGP Awards to be Announced July 4

1199A forms are arriving at fire departments across the country, and that means only one thing – awards for the FY2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) are about to begin. Congressional notifications of 2008 AFG awards started arriving today, indicating that the first round of awards for the 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program will be announced this Friday, July 4. Pre-award paperwork is currently being solicited from many departments for subsequent rounds, which will happen each Friday. There are usually 35-40 rounds of funding awards announced in this program yearly. Congratulations to all our clients and seminar students who have been successful and will be announced on the 4th!
