In January, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) launched a new blog website. The blog, Evolution of Security, discusses the TSA's operations (within reason) and gives travelers the opportunity to leave feedback on TSA programs.
Five TSA employees – Bob, Ethel, Jay, Chance and Jim – write Evolution of Security in an informal, non-jargon conversational style that invites comments from the traveling public. Here are some recent popular posts:

Fire Departments: Have you finished and filed that AFGP application? If you haven't, it's time to put on a pot of coffee and get out your emergency stash of midnight oil. All FY2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) applications must be submitted to DHS by Apr. 4, 2008, 5 p.m. Please be aware that at this time, CHIEF Grants cannot accept anymore applications or narratives for review for this year's program. Good luck on your application!
Law Enforcement: Oh doggie! We've added a slew of K9 grants to our Law Enforcement Grants listings. See below for 4 new programs your agency can use to implement, train and support a K9 unit.
In other law enforcement and corrections grant news, the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) is now open for applications. This is one of the most important grants out there. Since 1999 over 11,900 jurisdictions have participated in the Bulletproof Vest Partnership, with $173 million in federal funds committed to support the purchase of an estimated 450,000 vests. BVP is the place to turn for agencies who need armor but lack it and/or the funding to get it. Deadline to apply is April 23, 2008, 5 p.m. ET.
