Grant News By Kurt Bradley, CHIEF Grants Consultant
August Recap - Public Safety Grants
August had some big grant news, most notably the re-opening of the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP). Open to all public safety agencies, CEDAP is one of the federal government's most popular programs. Deadline to apply is Sept. 22, 2006.
Other welcome developments include award announcements for the Fire Act grants. New winners were announced for AFGP, FP&S, and SAFER. Check the DHS Fire Grant Support website for all winners.
Lastly, on Aug. 16 the USDA announced an extension and requirements waiver for rural 2005 hurricane victims. Matching fund requirements and median income requirements for the Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program have been waived for rural communities declared disaster areas as a result of the 2005 hurricane season. This program is accepting applications for the next 18 months, and will help rural communities rebuilt essential services. See details on this program »
