CHIEF Grants Announces 3 Winners for the 2008 CHIEF "More Responsive" Equipment Grant

Students who attended our 2007-2008 national grant-writing seminars have competed for 3 $750 equipment grants from CHIEF. The winners are.

For the past 2 years, CHIEF has sponsored a grant program for students of our National Grant Writing Training Seminars. All students who attended a National Seminar compete against each other for a chance to win one of three $750 grants from CHIEF to obtain equipment to help their personnel to be safer while performing their assigned duties.

It is our extreme pleasure to announce winners for our 2008 grant today. The 3 winners for our 2008 CHIEF "More Responsive, Period!" Equipment Grant are:

  • Jill Cervenka – Savage Police Department, Savage, Minnesota. Her department requested 12 protective riot helmets for their police officers.
  • Jeannie Bogner – Wake Forest Fire Department, Wake Forest, NC. Her department requested a Rescue Randy training mannequin to conduct safety training with their firefighters.
  • Lee Jeffcoat – Holly Springs Volunteer Fire District, Lyman, SC. His department requested a "Firefighter Accountability System" to track the firefighters while on the scene of fire incidents.

About the CHIEF "More Responsive, Period!" Equipment Grant

This grant program is available only to a student who attends one of our National Grant Writing Training Seminars. CHIEF offers this grant as an opportunity for an agency to realize an immediate return on investment for their seminar tuition costs, as well as to further increase the level of safety for their personnel.

Students who attended one of our CHIEF Grants 2007-2008 national grant-writing competed against one another in a "limited eligibility" grant. This served as a final exercise from the course to put into real-world practice the skills they learned while attending the seminar. The program will be continued this coming year, and will be available to any student attending any CHIEF Grants National Training Seminar between July 2008 and March 2009.
