Holmes Fire District #1 Receives a Polaris Ranger 6 X 6December 15, 2006 - Press Release From Holmes Fire District #1, OhioHolmes Fire District #1 was recently awarded a Polaris Ranger through the Polaris Ranger grant program offered by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.
The application, written by Captain Terry Guthrie, highlighted the need for an all-purpose vehicle to give the department an advantage in grass and woods firefighting, search and rescue, and EMS transport in areas inaccessible by the conventional ambulance. The Ranger 6 X 6 comes equipped with a winch. Holmes Fire District #1 plans to make the unit more useful as the department's budget allows, by adding accessories such as an all-weather cab, snow plow and salt spreader. The unit will be placed in active service as soon as the firefighters have been trained on its use and care. |
