Holmes Fire District #1 Receives a Polaris Ranger 6 X 6

December 15, 2006 - Press Release From Holmes Fire District #1, Ohio

Holmes Fire District #1 was recently awarded a Polaris Ranger through the Polaris Ranger grant program offered by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.

The new Ranger vehicle is sure to come in handy during the winter season. Holmes Fire District #1 recently received a Polaris Ranger through the Polaris Ranger grant program offered by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.

The application, written by Captain Terry Guthrie, highlighted the need for an all-purpose vehicle to give the department an advantage in grass and woods firefighting, search and rescue, and EMS transport in areas inaccessible by the conventional ambulance.

The Ranger 6 X 6 comes equipped with a winch. Holmes Fire District #1 plans to make the unit more useful as the department's budget allows, by adding accessories such as an all-weather cab, snow plow and salt spreader.

The unit will be placed in active service as soon as the firefighters have been trained on its use and care.
