Get in the game:
We got it!
I just received a phone call from our congressman's office announcing that we have received a $232,000 AFGP grant for a new fire truck. This is fantastic news for our volunteer department as the newest piece of operable apparatus we own is a 1961.
I was initially hesitant to spend the money, since our budget is very limited. In fact, I sent in my reservation on the very last day to get your "30-day-in-advance" 10% discount. In the first morning of the seminar I realized the tuition we spent was probably going to be the best investment our department has ever made.

More 2005 AFGP Award News
We got the call here in Illinois from Congressman Jerry Costello (D) 12th Cong. Dist., IL. The grant is to be for a 75' quint to replace our 25+ year-old 50' tele-squrt (a truck that has over 6,000 fire runs logged-in during its service life here). It was a trooper, but by now it has virtually became more dangerous for us to ride on it and rely on it than it is to face the very fires themselves that we respond to with it.
A heartfelt "Thank You, God," for answered prayers from all the firefighters here. And a personal "thank you" to Kurt for his excellent advice at his seminar last January.
