The US Fire Administration (USFA) has an "eager goal to have all the award announcements completed by the end of the fiscal year (Sept 30)," says a source at DHS.

"Bear in mind that this is a goal only, and is not cast in stone," says CHIEF Grants Consultant Kurt Bradley. "There may be unanticipated delays, but it appears that our complaints regarding the 'slow flow' of money through the Federal pipeline are being addressed."

AFGP award announcements are expected to begin Friday, July 1. This fast-track announcing represents a radical departure from past award years. With a start date of July 1 and an end date for announcements of Sept. 30, approximately 700 departments would need to be announced per week for the next 12 weeks.
