Holmes Fire District #1, Ohio, was recently awarded a Polaris Ranger, thanks in part to CHIEF Grants assistance with their application

With application help from CHIEF Grants, in December 2006 the Holmes Fire District #1, Ohio, received a Polaris Ranger, under the donation program from U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC).

What is it?
Since 2002, more than 400 utility vehicles have been donated to fire, police, EMS, search and rescue, and wildlife conservation organizations from all 50 states, thanks to the Operation Ranger - USSTC Polaris Ranger 6x6 Utility Vehicle Donation Program from U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC).

Vehicles are awarded through a competitive application process overseen by an review committee. Award criteria can be easily deduced from the MS Word application form itself. You can request a mail-in application by calling (203) 817-3368. The application is not lengthy or complicated, so complete answers, organization and neatness are appreciated.

Applications that provide relevant, to-the-point information fare better. Because the program is intended to help improve emergency response, the review focus will be on the life-saving, property protection and emergency personnel assistance roles that applicants describe. Photos, videotapes, maps and letters of endorsement can be used to supplement the basic application.
