Eligibility

  • The grant applicant must have attended one of the following CHIEF Grants National Tour Seminars:
    • Sept. 11-12, Milwaukee, WI
    • Sept. 25-26, Denver, CO
    • Oct. 2-3, Baltimore, MD
    • Nov. 6-7, Las Vegas, NV
    • Dec. 4-5, Nashville, TN
    • Jan. 22-23, San Antonio, TX
    • Feb. 6-7, Atlanta, GA
  • Grant cannot benefit an individual
  • Grant must be written on behalf of and to benefit a public safety agency with the specific intent that any equipment obtained through an award, is for the sole benefit of that department
  • Agency-hosted seminar students are not eligible at this time
  • Applicants may only apply once
  • Applicants and grant winner give CHIEF permission to use department name, grant writer's name and relevant likenesses for advertising, marketing and publicity purposes

Grant Award

  • Three (3) separate grants will be awarded. One grant per agency
  • 25% department match required. CHIEF will award up to $750 based on amount requested in grant; agency will provide a 25% match, up to $250
  • Equipment applied for in the grant must be sold by CHIEF
  • Equipment awards only; no cash value

Application & Narrative Requirements

  • Narrative and application must be submitted as attachment via email
  • Paper, mail and/or fax submissions will not be accepted
  • Application and narrative must be in one, continuous electronic file
  • File format: Microsoft Word .doc format or other MS Word-compatible format. Adobe PDFs not accepted

What is it?
The purpose of the CHIEF Equipment Grant is to help you perform your assigned missions in a safe and efficient manner, while realizing a return on investment from your CHIEF Grants Seminar training. We at CHIEF and CHIEF Grants offer the CHIEF Equipment Grant as an expression of our gratitude and deep respect for the dangerous jobs that you perform every day.

This program is also designed as a practical exercise in testing your knowledge retention and ability to comprehend and construct a proper grant application after receiving instruction at our grant writing training seminars. You should utilize all relevant skills that you have been taught in developing and writing this grant application.

You are applying to a program that will fund three (3) separate grants to three (3) public safety agencies. Each grant award is subject to a maximum of $1,000 in selected equipment and shipping charges (up to $750 grant and a 25% match from the agency), to be obtained and selected from the CHIEF print catalog or CHIEF online catalog. The equipment selected should be chosen, and the application written, based upon the need to resolve a deficiency or to replace old equipment. The selected equipment should further your operational capabilities or enhance the safety of your members. There is no cash value associated with this grant award.

By winning this $1,000 grant, you will recover the cost of your CHIEF Grants Seminar, AND get essential equipment for your agency.
