These rejection notices indicate that you did not "beat the computer" and have problems in the front part of your grant application, so you did not make it to the critical "peer review" panel. Fire Grant Consultant Kurt Bradley and Law Enforcement Grant Consultant Margaret Stark, of CHIEF Grants, have helped 238 public safety agencies win equipment awards under Phase II of the popular Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP). 37 Fire, Rescue & EMS departments, and 201 Law Enforcement departments, will receive over $5,000,000 in equipment offered through Phase II CEDAP, thanks to the assistance they received from CHIEF Grants.

The Notices of Funds Availability (NOFA) for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) is currently awaiting signatures at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Once this document is signed, the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) will begin releasing the anticipated "10 questions" and asking for "1199a updates". Award rounds will begin in August. Now is the time to start weekly or daily checking your emails and online applications for communications from DHS or fire grant support. If you receive a communication from them, respond to their requests in a timely manner. Don't forget to update your profiles and check your filters: set them to ensure emails from DHS or fire grant support are getting through to your email address.

The program was funded at $524.44 million for FY 2006, and is funded now at only $280.5 million based on today's figures. In addition, the President's budget eliminates funding for firefighter staffing (SAFER) grants, which received $105.8 million in FY 2006.
