What Technology Can Be Applied For?
A detailed justification for the technology selected will be required later in the application. It is imperative that you provide a full justification as it will be scored and used to rank your application against other agencies. Each agency is allowed only one (1) technology selection per year.

Application Tip from Margaret Stark

"Depending on which technology you choose, there will be different or additional questions on your application. If you are sending your application to CHIEF Grants for review, be sure to include the questions and the technology you selected."

"Show Your Support for CEDAP" – Note from Margaret Stark

"There have been some changes to ONDCP this year. Due to budget cuts, any technology offered through CEDAP will not be available through ONDCP this year. This means that night vision is no longer available on ONDCP. Below is an email from the Operations Assistant requesting support for this program. Please send in your support and request to increase funding levels for ONDCP and keep this program alive."
From the Operations Assistant/Training Coordinator for the Technology Transfer Program:

As you know, our program is funded each year by Congress. In order to show the impact our program has on state and local law enforcement agencies, we provide Congress, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), and the Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center (CTAC) "success" stories that have involved the equipment we have awarded. We have been asked by our program sponsors to provide as many success stories as possible in support of our program and its continued funding.

I am asking for any documentation that you can provide to me (hard copy or soft copy) that will aid in showing how our program has been a tremendous benefit to those agencies that otherwise would not have been able to afford this equipment. Agency names and/or point of contacts would be beneficial.

For 2007, our funding has been dramatically decreased. However, with the help of your documentation of success stories, we can hope this will increase our funding for future years.

Please respond via email for softcopies ( ) or hardcopies can be mailed to:

What is it?
The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Counterdrug Technology Transfer Program matches systems and devices with state or local law enforcement agency requirements and arranges for the transfer of those items. Primary efforts are directed toward state and local law enforcement agencies in High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTAs).

The goals of the technology transfer process are to identify law enforcement requirements, match them with the appropriate technologies, provide equipment training, and permanently transfer the equipment to agencies.

Application Tip from Margaret Stark

"Agencies with multiple divisions may request more than one technology or the same technology for each division. This is only available to areas with a population area of over 100,000. In the responses/answers to the questions, each division will need to address the question separately."
