What is the program?
NIJ is seeking proposals to conduct process and outcome evaluations to improve public safety interventions at the local level. Effective law enforcement and crime prevention programs are critical to ensuring the safety of communities throughout the country. With the limited resources of many police departments, local agencies, and other groups, it is especially important to determine the effectiveness of public safety interventions. Proposed evaluations should use the most appropriate and rigorous methodologies feasible for evaluating the public safety intervention in question.

Proposal Topics (for full details, see the program guidelines PDF:

  • Gang Violence
  • Drug Crackdowns
  • Situational Crime Prevention

Funding: NIJ anticipates that a typical award made under this solicitation will be in the range of $250,000 and less, subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
