Defibtech and AED Superstore

What is it?
The AED Superstore, the world’s largest source of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), is underwriting and administering a private grant to provide free-of-charge to 12 U.S. fire agencies over the course of one year. One AED will be awarded each month. If you are a fire service representative, you are cordially invited to apply for one of these free AEDs for your department. This grant program starts April 5, 2005 and ends March 31, 2006.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health reports that an average of 105 firefighters die in the line of duty every year. In 2004, 49 of those on-duty firefighters were victims to heart attacks or cardiac arrest. The goal of this private grant is to help reduce those numbers and increase the chance that a firefighter can be resuscitated at the fire scene. This program makes sure AEDs are available to the fire service will do just that.

This is a true grant, not just a discount for an AED purchase. In other words, awards will consist of an AED delivered free to each selected fire department based on the merit of its grant application. No purchase of any kind is required.

Your agency is responsible for administering your AED program including training and policies in compliance with State law.

Awards will consist of one Defibtech LifeLine AED with one pair of adult electrode pads, 5-year battery pack, AED orientation video, 5-year manufacturer's warranty, user manual, a rescue kit, a doctor’s prescription, an AED Check tag and shipping. Other rules apply. This grant program and its requirements are subject to change at anytime.
