$530,000 Police Grant for Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team

Lots of police grants out there too

Law Enforcement, I have to admit I haven't been dishing out enough grants news for you guys lately. It's a pretty hectic time when those AFG fire grant awards start dropping, but that doesn't mean the fire departments are getting all the grant money. On the federal, state and private/non-profit levels, lots of police grants are still available and being awarded to law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Law enforcement grant helps St. Paul, Minnesota, fight violent crime

A recent award is a great example. After losing a Gang Strike Force, Minnesota's Ramsey County Sheriff's Department has received over half a million dollars from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The funds will help create a Violent Crime Enforcement Team (VCET) in the East Metro area of St. Paul, as reported by KARE 11 News:

"The VCET Unit will target violent offenders involved with Narcotics, Gangs and Gun-related offenses. Twenty-eight police officers from six departments will participate in the Task Force, including Ramsey County, St. Paul, Maplewood, Roseville, White Bear Lake, and North St. Paul Police."
More good grant news for Minnesota

This new unit aims to be a boon for violent crime reduction and prevention. Minnesota Law Enforcement has received some more good news too:
"In addition to the Ramsey County award, the Department of Public Safety announced that the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office would receive $470,000 and that a new Federal Initiative headed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation known as "Safe Streets" would be assisted with a grant of $500,000."
Remember, Law Enforcement, a grant opportunity may be as close as city hall or the governor's mansion. Keep on those applications, and it'll come through for you too!
