Features and Specifications:

  • Authorization Required! We cannot process your order without a completed and returned authorization form:
    • Download the authorization (zoll-aed-plus-medical-authorization.doc, MS Word doc)
    • Complete the authorization and have a physician review and sign it
    • Return via mail or fax (instructions included on authorization)
    • The Sale of an AED Unit requires Medical Authorization. The F.D.A. considers defibrillators to be prescription devices pursuant to 21 CFR 801.109 and medical authorization is required. Most states provide immunity from civil liability to the physician prescribing an AED. State legislation can be accessed through your state's website or medical board.
  • Durable and rugged A.E.D. passes a one-meter drop test and is protected from any kind of dust or water spray (Ingress Protection = IP55)
  • Technical support from Zoll available 24/7
  • Zoll's A.E.D. Plus™ is the only A.E.D. that offers:
    • Real CPR Help™, a tool that is able to actually see what you are doing and provide feedback to help you do it well. Audio and visual prompts help you rescue with confidence and clarity unmatched by any other A.E.D.
    • Support for the complete Chain of Survival as taught by the A.H.A., starting with checking responsiveness and ending with C.P.R.
    • Real C.P.R. Help™ that can see your chest compressions and provide you with real-time, interactive, instantaneous feedback that guides you to the AHA's recommended rate (100 compressions per minute) and depth (1-½" to 2")
    • Maximum support for every rescue, regardless of whether the victim needs a shock with C.P.R. or just C.P.R. with no shock advised
    • A one-piece electrode pad for fast, accurate, and easy electrode placement that lasts 5 years
    • Power from an array of 10 lithium camera batteries (available at retail) whose fail-safe redundant circuitry guarantees rescue-ready power for 5 years
    • A zero-dollar total cost of ownership for the first 5 years of use (nNo need to replace or pay for electrode pads or batteries for 5 years.
    • Help for rescuers in the form of audio prompts, text messages, and highlighted graphical icons
  • Battery architecture: Unlike every other A.E.D., the A.E.D. Plus has two separate, redundant power circuits – each powered by five lithium batteries
    • 2 circuits back each other up
    • Each can be called on to replace the other if for some reason on circuit fails
    • A single circuit of 5 batteries is fully capable of developing a shock of 200 Joules all on its own
    • Whenever the A.E.D. Plus presents a red X and tells you to "change batteries," there is still enough power available for more than 100 shocks
  • Guidelines 2005 Readiness
    • Conforms to the A.H.A.'s 2005 Guidelines for A.E.D.s
    • Supports the A.H.A.'s 2005 rescue protocol for infrequent rescuers, which calls for a single shock followed by a C.P.R. interval of 2 full minutes with cycles of 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths
  • Upgradeable
    • Units can be quickly, cheaply upgraded to compliant with current standards and A.H.A. guidelines
    • System upgrade take only a few minutes and can be performed on-site
    • Most upgrades require minor labeling modifications and a software change, made via the unit's infrared port
    • Cost of past upgrades was approx. $10 each (cost may vary on future upgrades)
  • What's the difference between the Zoll A.E.D. and the defibrillators that are shown on TV? The defibrillators often shown on TV are called "manual defibrillators." A manual defibrillator is not "automated" the defibrillator does not interpret the need for defibrillation. Trained medical personnel interpret the heart's rhythm and make the decision whether to shock the patient or not. The shock can be delivered by the use of paddles or defibrillation pads.
  • Will I hurt the patient by using the A.E.D.? When used on people who are unresponsive, not breathing, and have no detectable pulse, the A.E.D. is extremely safe. The A.E.D. makes shock-delivery decisions based upon the patient's heart rhythm, and will not allow a shock to be delivered if not needed. The machine will not let you shock a non-shockable rhythm. If the patient meets the criteria; unresponsive, not breathing, no pulse they are essentially "dead". Since the patient is already dead, anything a rescuer does (i.e., using an A.E.D., starting C.P.R.) can only help the patient.
  • Using a combination of voice prompts and visual text prompts on the A.E.D. screen, the Zoll A.E.D. Plus provides the visual and audible prompts required for the entire resuscitation process
