Two operating modes
- Active: The subject participates by blowing into the cone of the instrument where a sample of breath is collected for analysis
- Passive: The cone end of the instrument is placed in a space of air where alcohol may be present. This mode can be used without a subject's cooperation or can be used in the area above a drink to determine if it contains alcohol
Tri-Color LED Indicator Lights
- Green: Person has not consumed alcohol
- Amber: Person has a low level of alcohol (.010% to .020% BAC) in his/her body
- Red: Person's bloodstream is carrying a high amount (> .020% BAC) of alcohol
Response Time: Approximately three seconds from sampling
Result Display Time: 3-5 seconds, depending on alcohol level
